Morgan County Correctional Complex (MCCX)
Kairos Inside is a well-organized and well-trained volunteer based organization consisting of both men and women from the Knoxville community and areas surrounding the Morgan County correctional complex. These volunteers join together two times a year to present an introductory 3-day weekend, described as a short course in Christianity. The program is complimented with monthly gatherings.

MCCX Kairos Inside #37 is scheduled for October 17, 2024, led by Brent Thompson.
The Structure of the Program
The residents whom participate in the weekend program are selected by the Chaplain from among the influential inmate leadership of the prison, both positive and negative. Kairos Inside offers the weekend program in both the Spring and Fall. It begins on a Wednesday evening with a team meeting. The team goes into the prison on Thursday evening with introductions to the residents. On Friday, there is a 12-hour program what introduces Christ to the residents followed by another 12-hour program on Saturday which encourages the residents to take advantage of Christ’s forgiveness. On Sunday the residents are invited to think about their futures and join prayer and share groups. The weekend concludes on Sunday afternoon with a closing ceremony and an opportunity for the residents to share their weekend experiences with the team and others.

The Follow-up Program
In addition to the two weekends a year, Kairos Inside volunteer team in the Morgan County area involves itself in follow-up program on the weekend following the 3-day introductory weekend. Additionally, gatherings are held on the first Thursday of every month. The follow-up program is led by the outside team and seeks to reinforce the importance of participation by the residents in weekly prayer and share groups. The monthly gatherings are led by a group of residents whom are the Kairos Inside Council with the emphasis again being focused on prayer and share groups.
The History
The Kairos Inside program began at the Brushy Mountain facility and switched over to the Morgan County Correctional Complex. Due to its emphasis on love and listening and its monthly follow-up, it is believed that Kairos is one of the most effective prison ministries in the state of Tennessee and the Nation.
The Journey Program
Following the Kairos Inside Weekend, residents are encouraged to join prayer and share groups.
