Kairos Outside of Western Tennessee (WTKO)

WTKO

History

Kairos Outside of Western Tennessee has been having weekends since 2001 and is based in and around Memphis, Tennessee. WTKO has had several weekends since its inception and is blessed with a growing community.

Weekends have been held at different locations in the Memphis area.

Guests

As with other Kairos Outside communities, WTKO is always looking for women searching for a connection with others who have been impacted by incarceration. To become a Guest on a Kairos Outside weekend, you must be an adult female 20 years or older, whose life has been impacted by the incarceration of relatives, friends or yourself.

Currently, there are no plans for a retreat.  Guest Registration forms will be routed to the nearest Kairos Outside Advisory Council.

How to Get Involved

There are several ways to become involved with Kairos Outside of Western Tennessee:

Team Volunteer

Working as a team member is one of the most rewarding experiences possible. Working on a team requires members to meet for 36 hours to prepare for a weekend. Members share their special talens – musical, spiritual, social – with Guests and with each other.

The process begins with a volunteer application which is submitted to council or the leaders of upcoming weekends. Leaders begin choosing their team many months in advance, so you begin the process well in advance because of all the planning that is involved.

Angel Volunteer

“Angels” are special volunteers who work behind the scenes during a weekend. They help prepare Guest quarters, set up tables, and pray during the weekend. WTKO also needs help with Guest transportation during weekends. This is a wonderful opportunity for church groups, college and high school students and youth groups who need service hours.

Agape

Agape is sacrificial ‘LOVE” that takes many forms. It could be prayer or working as volunteer. Or it could be making little gifts such as bookmarks or food for Guests on a weekend. It could also be “green agape,” tax deducatible financial gift.

Prayer Partners

WTKO depends on God to make things happen so volunteers are recruits to pray for the weekends from beginning at end.
